On November 24, Rector Ruslan Viktorovich Aginey of Ukhta State Technological University, Russia, visited our university, and a welcome ceremony and cooperation negotiation meeting were held in the 5th Conference Room. President Liu Jian, Vice President Cao Jiangtao, heads of relevant functional departments, and 4 teaching faculty from Ukhta State Technological University attended the event to review cooperation achievements and discuss future collaboration.
Vice President Cao presided over the ceremony, noting that since the undergraduate program in Petroleum Engineering, jointly run by the two universities, was qualified by the Ministry of Education in 2023, 13 foreign teachers from Ukhta State Technological University have taught core professional courses at our university from 2024 to 2025. President Liu affirmed the fruitful cooperation, stating that Ukhta State Technological University, a benchmark in Russia’s oil and gas sector, highly matches our university's strengths in petroleum and petrochemical engineering. He proposed adjusting to a “dual-degree” awarding model, deepening joint scientific research, and promoting the application for the “Petroleum Engineering BRI International Joint Laboratory” to build a model platform for Sino-Russian higher education cooperation.
Rector Aginey expressed gratitude for the warm reception and responded to the cooperation vision, vowing to strengthen collaboration in joint research, teaching platform sharing, co-publication of academic achievements, and co-hosting of international conferences. Foreign teacher representatives suggested increasing the proportion of practical courses and conducting regular academic exchanges with Chinese faculty. After the ceremony, Rector Aginey visited the Engineering Training Center, the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, and the Large Instrument Center.
During the visit, both sides will hold special seminars on optimizing joint talent training programs and improving faculty exchange mechanisms, aiming to deepen cooperation and cultivate more compound talents with international perspectives for the high-quality development of the Sino-Russian petroleum and petrochemical industries.
