Century Progress

Liaoning Petrochemical University is the first petroleum industry school in New China, founded in Dalian in 1950 and relocated to Fushun in 1953. It was upgraded to Fushun Petroleum Institute in 1958. In February 2000, it was transferred from China Petrochemical Corporation to the leadership of the Liaoning Provincial People's Government. In February 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Liaoning Petrochemical University. In March 2010, the Liaoning Provincial People's Government signed an agreement with CNPC, Sinopec, and CNOOC to jointly build the university. Over 68 years, the university has developed into a multidisciplinary institution specializing in petroleum and petrochemicals, with coordinated development across eight major disciplines including engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, education, and arts.
